Ah! That's probably it there, I've got ALSA 0.5something on that machine.
I'll try putting that on and see if it fixes the issue. someone elsewhere
suggested recompiling Gnome in some specific way, which I'm going to read
up on and try. Anyone
else have similar trouble? I'm thinking there should be a searchable
knowledge base for soundcard specific problems somewhere? anyone know of
such an animal?
