Hi Juan,

Josh Green (developer of Smurf) started working on libsoundfont.
Althought it has "soundfont" in its name, I believe he want it to be
more general. Anyway, the API offers the possibility the query
soundfonts, edit them, assemble them on the fly, and so forth. It is
very generic and he has put in a lot of time and effort. His application
also has the drivers to work with at least the AWE{32,64} cards. You
might want to include him in the discussion. I'm not sure he is on the
linux-audio mailing lists as he has only a slow satelite connection
these days. I CC'ed this mail to him.
