Greetings all, I'm new to this list!

Has anyone got Audacity to work on Mandrake Linux?

I tried to install the RPM, but it's complaining about missing libraries.
Installing wx-GTK fixed one of the complaints, but some of the others are
confusing me. It asks for ogg and vorbis libraries and another
gtk-related library, and if I ask urpmi to install them it says they are
already there. Or, in the case of 'vorbis' I'm not sure which package it
really means, but libogg0 doesn't make it any happier.

I suspect that I need to create some symlinks in /usr/lib to alias some
files to othes with slightly different names in the same directory, but
does anyone know exactly which ones?

I'm not very used to Mandrake, so I may be missing some quite basic stuff
here.

Alternatively, a clue about how to get GLAME to do anything sensible at
all would be appreciated. That installs fine, but it's far from obvious
even how to do a simple top and tail operation, for example.

I'm doing it with gnoise now. That installs and works but the user
interface is tedious and it doesn't seem to do much. I've used an older
version of Audacity under Debian and I like it much better, but I have
other reasons for not going back to that whole installation.
