I have been using nas-1.4 and now nas-1.5, to play alerts to enterprise
management consoles (ofcourse linux) from HP-UX servers, I work for a HP
OpenView shop. IT seems to work fine for low auality audio and is pretty
configurable.
It is worth a try.
