Distortion is very nonlinear imho,
so if you are able to find something
that can transform a distorted
signal into the original, tell me
first, then we can start a company
and Get Rich Soon (TM) :)

Also, the secret services wiretapping
department would be very interested.

Distortion usually also removes
information out of your original
signal, think of playing a sound
very loud to a speaker which can't
handle the power => distortion
(signal gets its peaks chopped of),
but very unrecoverable IMHO.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it
that I'm very far from the truth.

Renicing the signal, as close
to the original as possible
should be doable though.
But that would involve a lot
of smoothing, which will make
the sound dull and soft.

vincent
