thanks... that explains lots...
strange though, windows (ugh!) says that sound is on irq9, and thats
what i have in modules.conf ...
so that explains now why the modules are loading fine...

but i still dont have anything listed on irq9 when i do cat
/proc/interrupts...

i tried changing the settings in /etc/lilo.conf to append
"devfs=nomount" but no sound still, and my modem wouldnt work either
then!
