1) What laptop do you use (if any, of course) ?
        - Dell Inspirion 2600 256megs ram, 800 mghz processor

2) What audio chipset does it have inside ?
        - intel 810 audio/graphics chip

3) What sound driver(s) do you use ?
        - lastest alsa from cvs

4) Are you using any of the following:
        - I'm going to get a usb audio device in the near future,
but am not sure about which one is the best

5) Was your experience setting up sound on your laptop:
    (B) Dedicated - took a little work but you're happy now
    - It still takes a good amount of learning to get one's c skills
good enough to properly configure and compile alsa from cvs,
but once you get those skills its not too difficult, now I
can re-install and re-configure alsa in about 5 minutes.

6) How do you use your laptop audio system, i.e., listening to XMMS,
composing with realtime output from Pd or Csound, soundfile editing with
Audacity or Snd, etc. ?

I use it for everything that I used to use windows or mac, with
one exception, I use my desktop for midi sequencing my outboard midi gear, while I use my laptop
to sequence soundfonts with jazz++. I'm getting into how to use muse to
sequence pd (some interesting possibilities), I use terminatorX for live
performance, and I create my "beats" with soundtracker. I use audacity for
audio editing.
I use my desktop for most of my audio recording but if I find a
good usb audio device my desktop will be converted to an internet server
and my laptop will take over all audio and music composition tasks
(including sequencing and recording outboard gear).
