I think, Ardour uses the raw midi devices, that is /dev/midiXX or
/dev/snd/midiCxDx or /proc/asound/dev/midiCxDx
Other software might use the ALSA sequencer, where you would use ports
like 65:0, listed with "aconnect -lio"
