What applications have people used that can provide rock solid fx
processing in realtime through the line input (not an internally created
stream)?

I have been trying out ssm but it has a lot of dropouts at the moment
and stability is not there.

I would really like to get one of my machines to be an fx rack.

Being on stage with the band in front of crowds shouting, "Get off! No! We want normal music!", I think that was more like acting than anything I've ever done.
