I'm probably wrong about this but I thought that the soundblaster live
wasn't "really" full duplex. I was under the impression that it was 16
bit in one direction and 8 bit in the other. If you want to do full
duplex you can go get a cheap Ensoniq PCI Audio card. Those definitely
work.
