BBC 7 played two streams mixed together the other day and no-one there
noticed for 20 minutes...

I expect that's the case with radio promo CDs, but as it's been
noticed, the various kinds of copy-protected CDs are often
mislabelled or are released in mixed batches. Not every label
produces a radio-only version of the CD - maybe they'll have to in
future.
One of the hypocrisies of the RIAA et al is they actually do believe
in giving away free music - when it suits them, even at considerable
expense to the labels. Anyone reviewing or playing music for a living
gets bombarded with thousands of free CDs, of which most go direct to
the second-hand store.
