All ports are able to be routed. So, you don't have to
route the alsa_pcm:input_1,2 to alsa_pcm:playback_1,2.
I think this means your hardware capabilities are
irrelevant. Just don't use hardware monitoring.

That should be wrong because a signal doesn't have to
route to alsa_pcm:playback.

I suspect you have the absolute correct idea but have
hit a snag. Perhaps hardware monitoring is set on.
