I don't entirely understand if David is doing something unusual with JAMin.
I've just successfully mastered three songs using JAMin on a Celeron 600 with
192M RAM. And yes, I'm pushing it, there's a couple of numbers I have failed
to process with JAMin AND record at the same time (I'm using ReZound), but
when it works, it works :-)

This is on AGNULA/DeMuDi 2.4.25-multimedia kernel (=Debian 'testing'), with a
lightweight WM and all non-music-essential services turned off.

So I don't think it's impossible with the given hardware, but it may require
some careful fine-tuning.

cheers
