There are two supported GM synth chips: OPL4 and Emu10k1. (OPL3 is
supported too but cannot do GM.) The OPL4 was used on ISA cards, so
if you really want an integrated synth, your only choice is a SB Live.

All more or less current versions of both 2.4 and 2.6 support USB 2.0.
