I meant overall marketshare. There are a lot of audio enthusiasts that
are customers. I don't know how many users use linux audio apps for pro
audio productions (IIRC there were quite a few people on the ardour
mailing list), but this alone isn't the only thing the hw manufacturers
are interested in simply because there aren't as many pro audio studios
out there as there are manufacturers and their product types.
So the target group becomes broader yet undefined even though the
products are aimed for professional usage. I believe that the number of
pro audio hw customers that are also linux user lies somewhere between
500-1000. It's a rough guess and it would be interesting to know more
precisely, because it could be that the linux audio market is already
more interesting than the macosx market becasue of higher number of
enthusiasts willing to pay for pro hardware. It hasn't been measured
yet, and it's similar to overall marketshare where the number could be
higher because it's difficult to measure the number of dualbooters.
Perhaps i'm just being optimistic.

Marek
