For what it's worth, using these kernels on Mandrake 10.1 has these
results for me:
kernel-2.6.8.1.12mdk-1-1mdk - ALSA modules load fine and system
power-off works too.
kernel-multimedia-i686-up-4GB-2.6.7-1.mm.3mdk - ALSA modules load
fine. System won't power-off at shutdown (requires operator to press
on/off switch).
kernel-multimedia-i686-up-4GB-2.6.7-1.mm.7mdk - ALSA module loading
leaves snd-seq-midi *unloaded*, requires modprobe to load it. System
won't power-off at shutdown.
