:} I disagree. It's , maybe, not appropriate to everything.
I think text based tutorials are perfect for text stuff... Something based on
a knowledge base or expert system with a Debconf-like interface would be
great... In fact... if there were some sort of centralized tutorial system
for linux that could hold a basic package of interactive texts and that
upgraded through apt or even automatically it would help linux users
immensely. It could always be set up to use dialogs, sound and video...
{streaming, flash, etc {rss}}
You could just type in a question or ask the interface to define a procedure
and {maybe after a short game of 2o questions} get your answer immediately...
With a friendly interface and 'net connectivity {could query for the latest
version of a particular file or download knowledge modules {and codecs}
automatically} it could be very helpful. You could even have it answer
interactive {non-content} questions from a random database... maybe even use
"personality" modules.
Folk will still have a need for video and animation for instructional and
promotional video and audio... in fact... the system would open up a whole
new linux market. :} It would be fun, provide folk with accurate, up to date
instructional information and provide folk with a creative outlet. It could
even lead to broadcast as well as educational stuff at some point. "Linux
Help Net" or "HAL" or something...
