Oh, thank you so much, Andreas! Too bad I didn't know this a few days
ago, as I've just ordered Mandrake 10.1, and Knoppix 3.7 (Knoppix to try
on our old computer). I tried Dynebolic, which is apparently a
specialised music version of Linux, but I couldn't make it work.

I'm a total newbie to Linux, and really want to get it working for doing
recording (perhaps even mastering, eventually).

Should I get DeMuDi, or can I make the music applications work with
Mandrake? Is latency the main issue to watch out for, or are there
others I'm not aware of?

Any advice is much appreciated. Sorry, I haven't understood most of the
messages since joining this list, but maybe eventually I will (when I
have got Linux onto my computer).

Cheers,
Kath Worsfold
