Re: [linux-audio-user] Neuros

hi,

I also have an Iriver (the h140, same as h120 with a 40gb hdd). This
device also has Ogg support (only for playback), and as Spencer says,
works as a standard USB HD. The only gripe is that there is apparently
a problem with this unit dropping samples while recording to .WAV. I
can't notice it myself in listening to recordings, but many have tested
by recording sinetones and found the problem is consistently there.
Iriver have been very slow in releasing firmware updates too, which is
annoying though not impossible to live with. It appears the Rockbox
alternative firmware is being ported to the H1xx series, so that may
take care of that problem, but just thought folks should be aware of
this issue in their purchasing decisions.

I also was considered the Neuros, but couldn't find it locally. It
appears to only be sold in the US, and my being in .au would make any
warranty issues problematic. Would have bought it as it is definitely
the most open jukebox style player/recorder out there.

regards
Michael
