Ugh, those are bad bugs. I have no idea what amSynth's damage is. It
looks like SpiralSynthModular checks whether it's running as root and
doesn't even bother trying to run RT otherwise.

Please report the problem to the authors of those applications.

Also, just to be sure, can you post the output of "pwck -r" (as root)?
