I am currently using the FC1 2.4.22-1.2188 kernel from Planet CCRMA
for productive work.
http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/system.html#kernel.

With this kernel my Fedora Core 1 is stable and I get no xruns with
jack -n 3 -p 128, about 8 ms latency. -n3 p64 = 4.4 ms and -n3 p32 =
2.18 ms also work, but I get occasional eventhough inaudible xruns
every 5 minutes or so.

The 2.4.26 kernel on the planet ccrma homepage is not as good, I get
occasional xruns also with p128.

I am testing FC3 with the 2.6.11-0.3 kernel from Planet CCRMA edge,
and this one seems to be performing better, I can get down to -p64
with no xruns and p32 with a lot fewer xruns than with the 2.4.22
kernel. A caveat is that I have not been able to get my el-cheapo
http://www.djcj.org/LAU/quicktoots/toots/el-cheapo/ multichannel I/O
to work with the 2.6 kernel, whereas it works very well with the 2.4
kernel in FC1.
