Yes!

It seems you are right. That option produces audible problems (although
not noticed as xruns - the xrun count is always 0).
Switching it off gives me again perfect performance.
Tested with /usr/bin/jackd -R -t200 -dalsa -dhw:0 -r44100 -p256 -n2
and zynaddsubfx.
