OK, but you're assuming that one has control over the sampling rate
of all the sources one is using. In today's remix-happy world of sample
CDs and other haphazard sources of material, that's not the case,
your comments about music quality notwithstanding.

But basically I agree with you: I'm not interested in automatic
resampling (except perhaps as an explicit configuration option), but
I'd love to have it as an option when importing audio.
