Well, tried it and I got sound coming from my laptop speakers so I
suppose /dev/dsp is used by my laptop's integrated soundcard.
I also have a /dev/dsp1. I tried redirecting urandom to it and got this:

cat /dev/urandom > dsp1
cat: write error: Broken pipe

/dev/dsp and /dev/dsp1 area actually symbolic links to /dev/sound/dsp
and /dev/sound/dsp1, respectively.

Here are the contents of my /dev/sound directory:
