the existence of XMMS2, BMPX, and Audacious, plus chat in the audacious channel relating to how dead XMMS was. i guess i havent fully investigated it. even within XMMS, one could proably fix the issue by switching to the jack output, and having jack deal with the card, if one was using ALSA..
