I'm on Debian sid too.. did you read the build instructions and
do:

sudo apt-get install build-essential python2.4 python-wxgtk2.6 libsndfile1 libsndfile1-dev scons ladspa-sdk python-ctypes libasound2-dev libjack0.100.0-dev zlib1g zlib1g-dev libflac7 libflac-dev libportmidi0 libportmidi-dev
