obviously i can't speak for the original poster, but for me this would
be ideal. with this feature, you would fulfill your obligation as a unix
programmer to provide me with sufficient rope to hang myself :)
(and i agree with your original intention, you shouldn't hang me by
default. but a command line option is sufficiently arcane to safely
assume the user knows what s/he is doing.)
