Thanks Clemens, it works :)

Some apps I tried which failed:
  
  -- smf-player - refuses to play due to missing note-offs; single file
  only
  -- jack-smf-player - single file only
  -- jpmidi - single file only
  -- midish - couldn't figure out how to use it
