As far as I can tell (with an hour of my commute going through amish
country both coming and going), most amish use ploughs. They just put
them behind horses instead of tractors.

Now, what I am also aware of is no till farming, which doesn't seem to
be practiced by the amish, but is practiced by one local farmer (who
also plays bass, but has no interest in linux audio). My friend leads
me to believe that it is very profitable, in addition to being eco
friendly.

Anyway, I am certainly in favor of using tractors though, both for music
and farming. I'm less in favor of seeing horse and buggies on the road.
  I'm not sure that it is really fair to the horses.
