Yes, depending on the setup to produce the IR file it could included
both. Often you have also some artefacts from the signal witch was used
to produce the IR file, witch wasn't the case with the files I mention
above in this thread. I prefer to talk about a sound colour (in non
technical language). The difference between the plain signal and the
signal send to a amp, Speaker, Hall, Coffee-cup, or what ever you could
imagine. When you search the net about Impulse Response Convolution you
will find crazy stuff. You could use it for match more then plain
reverb.

Not only equalization, re/ver/vi/bration takes also a role.
