One last note on the session: since the mixing/control room is separated
from the performance space, and we were just doing overdubbing, I tried
something new. I used X11vnc to send the studio machine's screen to my
laptop, and I easily controlled the overdubbing in Ardour remotely. This
impressed the musicians quite a bit! I'd hate to do more than simple
transport and record-enabling that way though - the studio machine has 2
monitors each running at 1600x900 for a total display size of 3200x900.
Displaying that to an older laptop with a 1024x768 screen was interesting!
