Saving [an enormous amount of] battery power. e.g it's handy when doing
field-recordings on a laptop: This Thinkpad X60s w/o CPU freq scaling it
consumes ~30 Watt. Lowering the CPU speed can get it down to 10-12 Watts.
For a desktop machine: it's only a drop in a bucket - but saving energy
is something we should all be concerned about.
Note that CPU scaling does not work reliably on all systems and some
BIOS tweaks may be needed (disable EIST and bus-freq scaling).
For some high-end systems (studios) where the price for power is
negligible compared to revenue lost by an x-runs during recording: don't
use it.
