I had actually heard this first in a translation in Italian (similar to
[1]).

The overall blend of lyrics, the way they are spoken and the musical
setting (looping harmony, blended timbres, final 'plucked-strings'
phrase) remind me quite a bit of Mike Oldfield music.
Nicely done I must say.
IMHO you could experiment with leaving longer pauses between phrases.
with some further 'foreground movements' in the music.

The words are from a poem by Max Ehrmann [2]... I guess it is pretty
well known in English-speaking contexts but not as much elsewhere
(especially in it's original form)?

Lorenzo.
