i should stress that the VST plugin remain suboptimal for all kinds of
reasons. i am not going to turn down work done by other people
intended to improve users' lives and work, but it doesn't change the
fact that the engineering and license situation of the VST makes it a
really, really poor choice for anyone who really wants to release good
plugins on Linux. it makes it harder for hosts to do the right thing,
and harder for plugin authors to do the right thing. it has nothing
whatsoever to recommend it except for the existing plugin authors who
have chosen to support it.
