Thanks for the responses on this!

I've been looking at some manuals and it seems that most of the sub
$200 units do a stereo mix to usb.

The only mid range unit I've found which does multitrack is:

Now, on this usb 1.x vrs 2.0 stuff ... I'm sure that I've read about
2.0 problems on this list. However, when I look on the web for usb 2.0
linux I get the impression that it's fully supported. I'm confused :)
