Who are these people?

Are they Linux Audio Users and Developers or just random Linux users who
have a notebook ar consumer grade cmipci/ntel chipset or standards
compliant usb device that works with pulseaudio and occasionally dabble
with jack?

The biggest barrier for wider adoption of Linux Audio as a platform for
"general purpose" professional audio is lack of interest from the "big
boys" in the audio industry to actively participate in the development
process and community.

When it comes to very specific high end application of Linux Audio
especially in professional hardware solutions things have never been
better. Adoption by the big boys in the audio hardware industry is a solid
growth market.

RME's official policy for a while is that they don't provide support for
Linux Users. Ralf has not flagged anything new here. I'm surprised that he
didn't know this already. However the strange thing is that RME continue
to be one of the most well supported manufacturers of high end
professional grade Linux Audio Devices so someone at RME is being helpful
to someone in the LAD community.

Most likely their support department just don't want to deal with Ralf
Maldorf. Perhaps his reputation proceeds him ;-)
