Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I've hadfun (re) discoveeing all
this software. I like carla but it seems a bit buggy and cpu hungry.
Strangely, hosting the plugins in qtractor used less cpu! Any ideas why?

Another annoying thing I have encountered is linuxsampler clicking and
crackling with multiple notes. Never had this problem before but thus is
the first time I've used avlinux on my dektop... will investigate further..
