I think that might be explained by "hidden" hardware latency, e.g my
multiface has 32 frames of hardware buffering, and then the ada
conversion takes another 15/16 frames. In effect meaning that apart
from the latency set in jack, there is another 95 frames of latency
going from analog input to output.
Other hardware can add a lot more "hidden" latency, and so do the
usb/fw bus. This can be checked relatively easily with a loopback test.
