You can't expect digital audio software companies to delight in seeing
intense competition on Linux. Would Adobe have discontinued their SGI
port of Photoshop if they didn't see The Gimp running on SGI?

What you're thinking is that by showing off a razzle dazzle competitor
you'll convince Steinberg that the fundamental system services and
programming frameworks exist to write clean software on Linux. What the
suits are thinking is that the only people using Linux are computer
scientists who want to learn fundamental system services and programming
frameworks, not musicians.

I've often asked the same question after every trade show. Why does
no-one demonstrate razzle dazzle multimedia software at Linux trade
shows but instead demonstrates an xterm runnine pine or Netscape
displaying a spreadsheet year after year. You can ask why Linux OEMs
wouldn't be caught dead promoting their products as anything but a back
room number crunchers. Your requests for razzle dazzle demonstrations
will go unanswered and promptly deleted from Slashdot's submission box.

The point is, Linux hackers don't want razzle dazzle comprehensive
programs. They want to learn about computer science. You're better off
showing the audio software suits market demographics and the fact that
no competition exists on Linux, instead of how great the ioctl interface
of some basic system services are.
