I *think* that the XML GUI spec is independent of the method. I don't see
how the non-dequential api helps though? The problem is that you need to
pick an impulse from a list that is unknown at compile time. You don't
want to have to rebuild the convolver everytime you add a new impulse.

Oh, I see I could make the host provide the impulse as one of the ports,
erm, wow! But won't work with the current generation of hosts though.
