OK, well thats more encouraging. I'm pretty sure I can write a thing that
talks A+M PCM data to and from a 1394 port with libraw1394. I've
been trying to absorb 1394 and mLAN docs in 'spare' moments.

Yes, this would definatly be a good advert for linux audio, and note
that Yamaha only wrote ASIO drivers for MacOS. I spoke to a Yamaha
hardware guy at a trade show last year and he said that Yam were planning
to let windows driver people fight it out amongst themselves FWIW.

I think I will contact Yamaha, and see if they are willing to help.
