You mean NxM connections I suppose.

If you come to think of it, this can be done using Pauls proposal, by
having the engine cutting NxM connection into M Nx1 connections. This
will result in correct behaviour.
Splitting into N (1xM) connections won't do (because in these type of
connections the buffers get overwritten and not added to).
