Sincerely this seems to me an *huge* design flaw.

I've maximum respect about this and I've felt the very same frustration
many times when a different point of view on alsa-devel has revealed
design mistakes.

My choice has always been to change things for the best also when this
has needed more work, long discussions, flame wars, etc.

I've exported this experience to this discussion on linux-audio-dev,
taking for granted that you follow the same development model.

Perhaps I've done a mistake and in this case I'd like to apologize.

Is your aim is to leave past decision untouched, I think to have wasted
my time and your.

Please answer not as a matter of principle but following what you feel.

I like much more intestinal sincerity than pseudo-rational politeness.
