Agree, but I guess that the linux audio community will become quite big
sooner or later since it will be proportional to the installed desktop base.
And as you know .. audio people are sick of problems on their windows boxes
so they are more inclined to switch than the average windows user.

Yes it's easier but immagine the alsa-user and alsa-devel list unified in a
single list. That would be quite counterproductive for both alsa developers
as for alsa users.

I think the best thing for those that regard them as a middle way between a
newbie and an expert and that want to listen to the discussions of the
developers too, should simply subscribe to both list .. not a big deal.
But if I'm a very linux-audio newbie then I might not be interested in plugin
scheduling algorithms on multi processor enviroment, ecc ecc.

Ok splitting the lists in 3 classes is silly I admit it , but I see nothing
bad in having a list for users and developers.

From a developer POV, this separation has the advantage that developers
willing (or haiving the time) to help out newbies can subscribe to both lists,
while the ones wanting to focus on development can chose to be only on the
developer's list.

From an user's POV it's handy too:
if I'm a newbie and want to avoid to read the complex stuff (that I do not
understand anyway) I subscribe only on the users list.
If I'm interested in the developer's stuff then I subscribe to both.

Everyone will be happy and no one will complain (or at least almost no one)
that people is posting offtopic stuff.

Thoughts ?

Benno.
