Well, thanks for this round of feedback. I will look into your
suggestions, which may take a while.

Just one more note: I'm not interested at all in the GUI part here. The
whole thing could even run in text mode (which would make it a LOT
easier). I'm simply trying to build a sound synthesis module for my
keyboard. At this point, I'm not interested in graphics.
