well, i have an emagic audiowerk8 that sounds pretty good and has
convertors on the card. surely this is good enough for a project
studio.

also this card has DACs that allow the sample rate to
be adjusted whil running in steps of 1hz i believe. that would make
syncing it to other soundcards possible. alas it has no alsa driver
though. also could be synced to mtc. and for adjusting when
capturing video although dropping/repeating a frame would
probably work just as well.

i am not familiar with the sb live!, but could two be synced using
spdif? indeed syncing in software is not the way to go imho.
