It's still a concept. If (when) it's realized, there will have to be some
sort
of API or so to program it & some standard to get the software on chip.
Otherwise
it wouldn't be as usefull to the open-source community.
(the open-source community is so cool: if they want some functionallity they
can't find, they do it themselves. The best part is that everybody gets
access to
their work... for free... cool!).

And so there will be some firmware available too...

Besides, the breakoutbox idea mentionned here was only intended to do the
A/D & D/A
conversions. The dsp would reside on a PCI card, in the computer & connected
to the
breakout box.
