its not really "firewire compatible". its uses the firewire wire-level
protocol to move their own proprietary audio/MIDI protocol. you cannot
decode this unless you have MOTU's drivers running on the computer
with the firewire interface. this is company-driven-interest BS, as
usual.

there are much better cards than the Event series. The Midiman Delta's
would be the most obvious choice. well engineered, well documented,
well liked, and pretty well supported under Linux.
