I think most recent drives have an acoustic management feature that should
improve this. There was an article in the german \"c\'t magazin\" about
enabling it. Don\'t know if this is enabled by default under Linux and
if not if there is an easy way to enable it. It does cost some performance
though, so for a DAW it might be better to have the computer in another
room than the desk/monitors.
