ahem, doesn't the kernel get loaded and decompressed once on boot
and then stays in RAM anyway ?
 
you might want to fiddle with ramdisks for libs and applications,
but i think there is little gain in that and you would have to put
up with a longer boot process to mirror the stuff to ram.

just put in plenty of megs and let the kernel disk cache to the
rest. works for me.
